Jaden Guerra
Student leader, mental health advocate, and future healthcare professional.
Jaden Guerra is a high school junior whose passion for mental health advocacy, healthcare, research, and community service is deeply rooted in personal experience. At the age of nine, Jaden experienced the loss of someone close to him. During that difficult time, he recognized that while children often have access to adults and professional support, they may not have peers their own age who can truly understand what they are experiencing. That realization inspired Jaden and his younger brother, Gianni, to help create a community where young people facing mental health challenges can feel heard, supported, and, most importantly, know that they are not alone.
As the founder of the Guerra Youth Foundation, Jaden is committed to supporting middle school students and promoting mental health awareness. Through the foundation, he seeks to provide educational resources, encourage open conversations about emotional well-being, and create a supportive environment where young adolescents feel comfortable seeking help and connecting with others.
Jaden’s commitment to service extends beyond mental health advocacy. Through his volunteer work with Power U, he has supported initiatives focused on empowering Black and Brown youth, strengthening underserved communities, promoting youth leadership, encouraging civic engagement, and advancing educational equity.
Academically, Jaden has pursued opportunities that combine research, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning. Through Pioneer Academics, he conducted research in architectural design, focusing on Black vernacular architecture and examining the historical and cultural influences that have shaped the built environment. At Oxbridge Academy, he participated in medical research focused on Cystic Fibrosis, further developing his analytical abilities and strengthening his interest in healthcare and scientific inquiry. As a Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) Scholar, he completed coursework in microeconomics and macroeconomics, broadening his understanding of economic systems, policy, and their impact on society.
Jaden has also gained hands-on clinical exposure through an internship at Tree of Life Orthopedic Surgery Center, where he assisted with patient preparation, observed orthopedic procedures, and learned about diagnostic imaging technologies, including MRI and CT scans. This experience provided him with valuable insight into patient care and the operations of a medical practice while reinforcing his aspiration to pursue a career in medicine.
Outside of academics and service, Jaden has participated in competitive fencing, an experience that has strengthened his discipline, strategic thinking, resilience, focus, and ability to perform under pressure.
